A delegation of Hessian entrepreneurs headed by Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH (HTAI) is on its way back today from a three day visit to London. Entrepreneur and delegation participant Pedro Ferreira was thoroughly impressed by the delegation’s activities there and emphasized that "London is undoubtedly Europe’s AI hotspot. The visit by the delegation of entrepreneurs marked an excellent opportunity to gain insight into this ecosystem and to establish contact with London based AI companies. London served as the perfect venue for bringing people together to exchange ideas for this purpose." Ferreira provided live reporting on Twitter about the delegation’s activities there, which included visiting companies as well as attending speeches by industry specialists and IP EXPO Europe.

A direct exchange of ideas aimed at fostering innovation

The Enterprise Europe Network Hessen (EEN) organized an in person discussion forum during the delegation’s visit that afforded British and Hessian companies the opportunity to exchange ideas with one another. "The forum focused on the sharing of sustainable ideas for a digital future and the financing of startup companies. We also showed how startups and established companies can mutually benefit from one another," explained HTAI’s CEO Dr. Rainer Waldschmidt. Highlights of the delegation’s visit included stops at technology innovation hubs operated by Microsoft and Google and a stop at the Cisco Innovation Lab. A visit to the Catapult Center enabled the delegation to gain better insight into the fostering of innovation, artificial intelligence, and digitalization. This public institution supports, facilitates, and promotes innovations in cooperation with universities, companies, and government agencies.

Dr. David Eckensberger, Head of HTAI’s Department of International Affairs, explained that "the British Catapult institutions serve as outstanding competence centers designed to enhance innovative capacities in specific sectors by promoting close cooperation among companies, scientists, and engineers with the aim of fostering future economic growth. Our EEN company mission aims to identify potential that we may be able to later capitalize on in Hessen. It also serves to convey to companies the benefits of multidisciplinary cooperation with universities and other companies, which can be seen in the locally sponsored Exemplary Research & Development program already in place in Hessen today."

IP EXPO Europe – Europe’s largest IT event for companies

IP EXPO Europe is currently showcasing the most cutting edge IT innovations and is exploring how AI technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, and cognitive computing are changing the world of business. IP EXPO Europe will host six simultaneous conferences and exhibits with nearly 200 exhibitors presenting their very own innovative solutions. Visitors will also have the luxury of attending over 70 speeches, workshops, and live demos pertaining to the challenges of implementing AI at companies.

The delegation to London was organized by HTAI in cooperation with its London based EEN partner Newable and was authorized and sponsored by the State of Hessen’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy, Road Traffic, and Urban and Regional Development.
